Comedy workshop

Show Starts:2/6/2024

Interested in pursuing stand up comedy? Learn from someone who has been performing for several years in some of the best clubs in Connecticut and New York.  Brii Hiltz is a seasoned comedian as well as a recent performer in LCT’s Nuncrackers the Musical at the Thomaston Opera House.

Beginning Tuesday, February 6th at 11:00AM & Thursday, February 8th at 7:00 PM, Landmark Community Theatre will be offering eight weeks of 1-hour daytime workshops. The Tuesday morning session is intended for senior citizens. The Thursday evening session is intended for adults. This is part of a partnership with Plymouth and Thomaston Recreations Departments and a grant from the Connecticut office of the Arts.  Seniors residing in these towns should sign up with the recreation directors of each town.  All other participants should contact the box office.

An additional 1-hour workshop for adults will begin on Thursday, February 8th at 7:00 PM and run for 8 weeks.  At the end of both the senior and adult the workshops, participants will have an opportunity to showcase their comedy creations in a live audience setting.  Have a pen, pencil and your love of comedy to prepare for the event.

In these workshops you will learn the proper mindset it takes to take a stage and deliver jokes. You will also learn the basics of structuring a joke, how to write and create material that will relate universally, stage presence, and basically everything you need to know to not embarrass yourself when attempting to be a comedian. The workshop will be interactive. This will not be a lecture. Everyone attending will work on a joke and deliver it during the workshop. By then end of the workshop, you will have that taste of stand up that you always wanted and will be craving more. The workshops will culminate in a showcase performance of the participants performing their 5-minute routines.

Cost of the workshop is $40 for adults and $25 for seniors. Space is limited. Interested participants are encouraged to register early.
